Wegmans Arrives On Long Island: Shoppers Flock To Newest Store For Upstate Cult Favorite A supermarket with tremendous support from fans in upstate New York has finally made it onto Long Island. Wegmans Food Markets officially opened its Lake Grove supermarket at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26. The 101,000-square-foot store is located at 3270 Middle Country Road in the DSW Plaza at Lake Grove. This is the first Wegmans location on Long Island, joining 49 other locations across New York. Crash Shutters Traffic On Route 6 In Orange County (Developing) A crash has impacted part of Route 6 in Orange County and caused a traffic buildup in the area.  The incident happened on Route 6 in the area of Route 32 in Woodbury on Friday, Feb. 14 at around 4:30 p.m., according to eyewitnesses and 511NY.  Vehicles are being allowed to pass, according to video from the scene.  Authorities have not yet released more information about the crash.  This is a developing story. I-87 Blaze: Snow From Vehicle Roof Causes Car To Lose Control, Crash In Hudson Valley (Update) This story has been updated.  A car crashed and caught on fire on Interstate 87 in Rockland County after snow from the vehicle in front of it blew off and caused it to lose control, police said. The incident happened on Interstate 87 North in Spring Valley on Monday, Feb. 10 at around 2:40 p.m. just before Exit 14, according to New York State Police.  An investigation determined that the vehicle had been driving in the northbound lanes when snow from the roof of the car in front blew onto the victim's car, causing it to crash into a ditch. Crash Closes Lane On Parkway In Hudson Valley (Developing) A crash temporarily blocked part of the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Rockland County and resulted in injuries amid snowy weather.  The incident happened on Thursday, Feb. 6 at around 9:45 a.m. on the southbound lanes just south of Exit 16 in Stony Point, according to 511NY. As a result of the crash, the right lane was blocked to traffic in the area. It has since reopened as of 11:45 a.m.  Injuries were reported. Three Lanes Of Route 17 In Orange County Closed After Tractor-Trailer Hits Overpass A tractor-trailer hauling an excavator hit an overpass in Orange County and rolled over, blocking three eastbound traffic lanes on Route 17.  The incident occurred in Orange County early Tuesday, Dec. 10, in Goshen at Exit 124. Trooper Jennifer Alvarez said there are detours in place. But traffic is backed up. The lanes are expected to be closed for several hours.  This is a developing story. Vehicle Catches On Fire On New Tappan Zee Bridge, Impacts Traffic A vehicle fire impacted traffic on the new Tappan Zee Bridge off the shore of Westchester County.  The blaze happened on Thursday, Aug. 22 just before 11 a.m., when a truck caught on fire in the northbound lanes of I-87 on the bridge near the Tarrytown shore, according to the New York State Thruway Authority.  The incident temporarily caused the left lane to be completely blocked. Expect Delays: Work Starts At Busy Hudson Valley Intersection Traffic will likely be slowed at a busy intersection in the Hudson Valley as crews begin road work.  The intersection of Seminary Hill Road and Church Street in the Putnam County town of Carmel will be held up by road work that began on Wednesday, July 24, according to the Carmel Highway Department. Highway Department officials advised motorists in the area to "be patient and allow extra time" as the work may hold up traffic. Motorists can also use Willow Road as an alternate route around the work zone.
