A 41-year-old man has been charged with rape and sexual abuse of a teen in the region.
Ulster County resident Stephen E. Alvarez Jr., of Milton, was charged Tuesday, July 30, by the town of Hyde Park Police for the incident, which was reported on Friday, April 26.
According to Chief Robert Benson of the Hyde Park Police, in April, the department received a report from the Dutchess County Child Advocacy Center regarding an underage teenager being sexually abused in the town of Hyde Park.

A Hudson Valley man will spend the next 25 years in prison for raping and beating a woman twice.
Rockland County resident Rigoberto Lopez Castro, age 26, of Spring Valley, was sentenced on Wednesday, June 5, to a total of 25 years for the two rapes and one count of burglary, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II.
