Authorities are investigating after a retired police officer shot his wife several times before turning the gun on himself at a Westchester residence while their children were home. The murder-suicide was discovered just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, when an unconscious person was found at a house at 142 Chittenden Ave. in Yonkers, according to Yonkers Police Detective Sergeant Frank DiDomizio. The identities have been released for five family members who were killed in a murder-suicide in a residential Long Island community. The incident happened just before noon on Sunday, Aug. 25 at a residence on a cul-de-sac in Syosset. Nassau County Police say officers who responded to the residence on 76 Wyoming Court for a report of shots fired discovered a man outside the home who "sustained an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound."
