The US Geological Survey said a 3.8 magnitude earthquake shook much of the Northeast on Monday, Jan. 27. The quake occurred at 10:45 a.m. and was initially reported as a 4.1 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was located near York Harbor, approximately seven miles off the coast of Maine and about 13 miles underground. A crash on I-87 in the Hudson Valley blocked multiple lanes for hours on Monday, Jan. 27. The incident happened in Rockland County on Monday, Jan. 27 at around 11:05 a.m. on I-87 South in Ramapo, according to 511NY. Two people were rescued after a vehicle slammed into a pole in the Hudson Valley, leaving it tipped on its side. The crash happened in Rockland County on Saturday, Jan. 25 just after 9:30 p.m., when a car hit a pole in Nyack on Old Mountain Road near North Midland Avenue, according to the Nyack Fire Department. Kia is recalling more than 80,000 hybrid and electric SUVs due to wiring issues that could prevent airbags and seat belts from properly deploying, officials said.
