Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Westchester With a new round of storms moving from west to east, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for much of the region. The watch is in effect until 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8 for southeastern New York and areas in western as well as coastal Connecticut.  Potentially damaging wind gusts are the primary threat, with potentially damaging hail also possible, according to the National Weather Service. Scare At Playland In Westchester: Ride Spins Backwards Guests at a popular amusement park in the Hudson Valley got an unexpected scare when a ride wouldn't stop spinning. It happened this week in Westchester at Rye Playland, according to a report by ABC New York. The Music Express ride, which was carrying children and adults, spun backwards for as long as 10 minutes on Sunday, July 23, according to video obtained by Eyewitness News.
