A suspect has been apprehended days after a resident was stabbed multiple times outside a home in a quiet neighborhood in the Hudson Valley. Thruway Pavement Upgrades Completed In Hudson Valley
After more than six months of work and road closures, the paving upgrades to the New York State Thruway are complete in the Hudson Valley. Gov, Kathy Hochul announced Thursday, Nov. 30, the completion of the $44.6 million pavement improvement project on I-87 in a critical corridor spanning Rockland and Orange counties used by approximately 92,000 vehicles daily. Hudson Valley Man Hit With 25 Counts Of Petit Larceny For Stealing From Cars, Police Say
Following an extensive investigation, a Hudson Valley man has been charged with multiple counts of petit larceny tied to a string of vehicle larcenies. Rockland County resident Dainell Blacknall, age 33, of Spring Valley was arrested on Monday, Sept. 18 by Ramapo Police. According to Lt. Christopher Franklin, of the Ramapo Police, Blacknail was involved with larcenies in the Village of Airmont and the Town of Ramapo that occurred in August. Fast-Moving Fire Destroys Home, Vehicles In Hudson Valley
Three residents were treated for smoke inhalation after a fast-moving fire destroyed their Hudson Valley home and two vehicles. The Rockland County fire started around 6:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29, in the Town of Ramapo at 987 Haverstraw Road in the village of Wesley Hills. According to Det. Sgt. Michael Higgins, of the Ramapo Police, the family was able to escape the flames but were treated at an area hospital for smoke inhalation. Ramapo Police Chief Calls It A Career
After more than 40 years in law enforcement, Ramapo Police Chief Brad Weidel has retired. Weidel, who retired on Friday, June 11, began his career in December of 1980 with the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office. He was hired by the Town of Ramapo Police Department in September 1981. In June 1987 he was promoted to Sergeant. In January 2003 he was promoted to Lieutenant. In February 2004 he was assigned as Detective Lieutenant in the Investigations Division. Car Crashes Off Road, Into Pole In Rockland
Slick roadways have caused several vehicles to lose control and slide off roadways the last couple of days in Rockland County. On Monday, Jan. 4, a driver lost control on Conklin Road in the northeast corridor of the Town of Ramapo, caused it to skid off the roadway and into a telephone pole. Police say no one was injured in the crash. The same conditions also caused a driver on Sunday, Jan. 3, to lose control on Margetts Road in Chestnut Ridge and another in Ramapo.

Rockland Man Charged With DWI After Crashing Into Tree
A Rockland County man was arrested for DWI after clipping a vehicle pulling out of a driveway and crashing his car into a tree. The incident took place on Wednesday, Dec. 9 on Mallory Road in the Hillcrest section of the Town of Ramapo, police said. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 34-year-old male from Hillcrest told officers he clipped a vehicle that was backing out of a driveway before swerving off the roadway and striking a tree. Two men were taken into police custody in Rockland County after being involved in an altercation where one of them charged at the other with a knife, police said. First West Nile Positive Mosquitoes Of Summer Found In Rockland County
Rockland health officials are warning residents to take cover after receiving confirmation that the first pool, or group, of mosquitoes, have tested positive for West Nile Virus in the county this summer. The infected mosquitoes were collected from a trap in the Town of Ramapo during the week of July 15th as part of the county's ongoing mosquito surveillance efforts. Three businesses were cited for the sale of alcohol to minors in a compliance check conducted by the Ramapo Police Department, in conjunction with the Rockland County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, on Thursday, Dec. 20.
