The Empire State is seeing a “dramatic” increase in the number of television and film productions that are opting to shoot outside of New York City, Variety reports. Several television shows that were filmed in Westchester County scored Emmy Award nominations earlier this week. On Tuesday, July 12, six shows filmed in the county received a total of 70 award nominations across a variety of categories, according to an announcement from the county. Horse Dies On Set Of HBO Series Being Filmed In NY
Following the death of a horse during the filming of an HBO series on Long Island, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is requesting the network investigate. The horse died in Nassau County on Tuesday, June 28, during the filming of the highly popular series "The Gilded Age." According to PETA, three whistleblowers said the 23-year-old horse sustained head trauma and was seen frothing at the mouth. “If it weren’t for these whistleblowers, the apparent death of this vulnerable horse would likely have been swept under the rug,” says PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo.…

The Hudson Valley is set to be featured in the long-awaited debut of HBO’s latest drama “The Gilded Age.” Largely produced in New York, “The Gilded Age,” starring Christine Baranski and Cynthia Nixon, features New York City in 1882 after a young Marian Brook, played by Louisa Jacobson, moves from rural Pennsylvania to the big city.
