NY Bar Bouncer Covered Camera Before Fatally Beating 32-Year-Old Customer, DA Says
After removing his shirt and using it to cover a security camera, a bouncer at a New York sports bar brutally beat a 32-year-old customer, who would die in the hospital 11 days later, prosecutors alleged.
Long Island’s David Cruz, age 31, of Medford, was indicted for first-degree manslaughter Thursday, Sept. 22, in Suffolk County in the death of Jake Scott, of Centereach.
Cruz was working as a bouncer at Tailgaters Bar in Holbrook on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022, when he got into an argument with Scott shortly before 3 a.m., according to the Suffolk County DA’s Office.

Family Of Gabby Petito Files Notice Of $50M Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against Police
The family of Gabby Petito has filed a notice of a $50 million lawsuit against a police department in Utah, accusing it of negligence in the 22-year-old Long Island native's death.
Petito, age 22, of Blue Point in Suffolk County, was strangled and beaten to death last year in Wyoming by her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, also from Blue Point, but who relocated to North Port, Florida.
Laundrie, labeled a person of interest in the case by the FBI, later took his own life.
