46-Year-Old Man Shoots, Kills Father In Region
A man from the region is behind bars after allegedly shooting his father in the head, killing him.
Sullivan County resident Drew Botsford, age 46, of the town of Neversink was charged on Sunday, Oct. 8 with second-degree murder.
Trooper Steven Nevel, of the New York State Police, said officers responded to a residence on Bradley Avenue in the town of Neversink for a report of a cardiac arrest.
When troopers arrived, they found EMS providing CPR to Lloyd Botsford, age 71.
While performing life-saving measures, a gunshot wound to his head was found, Nevel said.

A pickup driver failed to yield the right of way in a crash that killed a 54-year-old man on Route 209, according to police.
The collision took place in Orange County around 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19 in Deerpark.

Jet Ski Passenger Killed, Driver Critical After Crash On Hudson River
A passenger on a jet ski was killed and the driver critically injured following a crash with another watercraft on the Hudson River over Memorial Day weekend.
The crash took place in Orange County around 2:50 p.m., Saturday, May 27 in the city of Newburgh.

Ulster County resident Tramayne Holmes, age 40, of the hamlet of Milton, was killed at 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, when he lost control of his vehicle on Route 28, in Kingston, crossed over into the westbound lane, and struck a 2022 Peterbilt tractor-trailer head-on, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel.

Two Brothers Nabbed For Murder Of Missing Man From Region
Two brothers have been arrested for the alleged murder of a missing area man.
The New York State Police arrested two Sullivan County men, Jack Carter, age 21, and Nick Carter, age 26, both of Glen Spey, on Wednesday, Jan. 19, for the murder of a missing area man.
The arrest stems from an investigation into a missing person report for 74-year-old Mark Eckert, of Glen Spey, who was last seen at his home on Saturday, Jan, 15, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel.
An investigation ensued and on Jan. 19, Eckert's was located dead on his property, Nevel said.

Area Man Charged With Strangling Woman To Death, Police Say
A man from the area has been charged with the murder of a woman who had been strangled to death.
Sullivan County resident Joseph Detzauer, age 37, of Fallsburg, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 12, for the murder of Marilyn Torres, age 61, also of Fallsburg on Sunday, Jan. 9, said the New York State Police.
Troopers responded to a residence on Loch Sheldrake Road in the town of Falls around 1:45 p.m., for a report of domestic violence.

Seven years after the gruesome murder of an area mother of four, New York State Police have arrested a suspect.
Keymarro Guiden, age 48, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, was extradited to Sullivan County, on Tuesday, Dec. 14, in connection with the May 2014 murder of April Parker, age 31, of Monticello, said the New York State Police.
On Wednesday, Dec.1, 2021, the New York State Police, with the assistance of the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office and the Pennsylvania State Police, arrested Guiden and charged him with second-degree murder, said Trooper Steven Nevel.

Woman, 25, Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash In Area
A 25-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash after losing control of her vehicle and hitting a tree.
Orange County resident Rachael Angelo, of Circleville, in the town of Wallkill, was killed around 10:20 p.m., Wednesday, May 5, on Route 17, in Goshen, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel.
Angelo was driving a gray Volkswagen went for "some reason" she lost control, went off the left shoulder of the highway, and crashed into a tree, Nevel said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
One Of Two Men Shot After Forcing Way Into Area Home, Beat Residents, Police Say
One of two men was shot after the duo allegedly forced their way into a home to confront the resident about a previous altercation.
Andre Fogo, age 32, and Rachain Wilson, age 28, both from the village of Monticello, were arrested on Friday, April 2, after New York State Police responded to a report of a shooting in Monticello, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
When troopers arrived on the scene they found that the victim, later identified as Wilson, had been driven to Garnet Health Medical Center in Catskill, for treatment of the gunshot wound, Nevel said.
