Man Accused Of Falsely Reporting An Incident Involving Handgun In Area, Police Say A 21-year-old man was arrested after allegedly falsely reporting an incident involving a handgun in Dutchess County. Kyle Ropeter, of Wilton, New York, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 8, after New York State Police responded to the town of Stanford for a report of a person with a handgun, said Trooper AJ Hicks. When troopers responded an investigation found that Ropeter had falsely reported the incident, Hicks said. He was charged with falsely reporting an incident and released on an appearance ticket.

There are currently 264 active COVID-19 cases in Dutchess County, up from a low of 169 as of Tuesday, July 7. The rise has largely been attributed to small outbreaks in both the Town and City of Poughkeepsie as well as East Fishkill, which has seen a recent rise in cases. 74-Year-Old Accused Of Sexually Abusing Child, State Police Say A 74-year-old man has been accused of sexually abusing a child, state police announced. A search warrant was executed at the residence of Vincent Ferris on Thursday, July 2 after an investigation regarding criminal sex acts allegedly committed by Vincent E. Ferris, of Stanford, against a victim under the age of 17. Ferris was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sex act, a Class E felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
