Each year, Niche explores the best places to live in the US, evaluating factors that include crime, public school systems, job opportunities and local amenities.

Audi A4 Stolen In Rockland County Recovered, Returned To Owner, Police Say
A stolen vehicle from Rockland County was recovered in New Jersey with help from several police agencies.
The vehicle, an Audi A4 was stolen in South Nyack on Tuesday, Jan. 5, from the driveway of a home on Glen Bryon Avenue, said South Nyack-Grand View Police Chief Daniel Wilson.
Later Tuesday afternoon, Wilson said the vehicle, which was allegedly unlocked when stolen, was recovered in Jersey City, New Jersey, and, after processing, was returned to the owner.

IDs Released For Suspect, Man Shot, Killed Outside Rockland County Bar
The identities of both a longtime resident Rockland County resident who was shot dead following an argument outside a local bar and the suspect have now been released.
According to the Orangetown Police, Gregory Dubuisson, 35, of Nyack, was shot and killed around 7:08 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 22, said Chief Donald Butterworth.
Dubuisson's body was found lying in the street after Orangetown officers responded to the area of Main and Franklin streets on a report of shots fired, the chief said.

Isaias Outage Update: New Breakdown Of Most-Affected Communities In Rockland, Orange
Hundreds in Rockland and Orange County remain without power nearly a week after Tropical Storm Isaias wreaked havoc on the East Coast.
As of 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, crews from Rockland & Orange Utilities was still responding to 417 reported outages, which were impacting 1,345 of their New York customers.
In Orange County, 705 of the company’s 104,130 customers were still reporting outages, while 628 of their 117,244 Rockland County residents were still in the dark.

On what would have been his father’s 88th birthday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo unveiled the shared bicycle and pedestrian path at the new Tappan Zee Bridge, which connects Westchester and Rockland counties.

Police: I-87 Traffic Stop Leads To Aggravated DWI Charge For Area Man Driving Three Times Limit
A 51-year-old man was nabbed allegedly driving drunk at three times the legal limit during a traffic stop.
The arrest took place around 11:15 p.m., Monday, May 18, in Rockland County when New York State Police stopped a vehicle on Interstate-87 in the village of South Nyack for several vehicle and traffic violations.
During the stop, the driver, Patrick A. Pierson, of West Nyack, was allegedly found to be intoxicated, said state police.
Pierson was taken into custody, and processed where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.27 percent, state police said.

Storm Knocks Out Power To More Than 30,000 In Rockland, Orange
More than 30,000 O&R customers in Rockland and Orange remain without power as crews continue battling the Nor’easter at more than 500 active outages.
As of 4:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon, crews were dealing with 507 active outages, which are affecting 31,032 customers in the Hudson Valley as wind gusts continue to whip at up to 60 mph in the area.
