Albany County resident Austin Breyette, age 25, of Watervliet, pleaded not guilty to assault and related charges on Monday, June 3, stemming from an alleged hit-and-run crash that seriously injured UAlbany freshman Alexa Kropf. Don't Say 'Inmate': NY Law Changes Term For Those Housed In State Prisons Convicted criminals who spend time in New York prisons will no longer be officially referred to as “inmates.” Gov. Cuomo Grants Clemency To 10 People; Will There Be Pardons For Pals In His Final Days? With just days remaining of his time in the Executive Mansion in Albany, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a series of midnight clemency orders to 10 felons, including three tied to homicides. Cuomo, who announced his resignation on Tuesday, Aug. 10 amid a sexual harassment inquiry, granted clemency to “10 individuals who have demonstrated substantial evidence of rehabilitation and a commitment to their communities.”  Cuomo's resignation takes effect at 11:59 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23.
