Thousands Still Without Power In Orange County
Thousands of Orange and Rockland residents are still without power as employees with O&R Utilities work feverishly to restore power amid hundreds of downed trees and lines. As of 10 a.m., Rockland County had 2,444 residents without power and Orange County had 8,471, company officials said. The company's website said it hoped to have power restored to many by 1 p.m., with the more extreme repairs running later. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Pilot Killed When Plane Crashes At Former Theme Park In West Milford
WEST MILFORD, N.J. – The pilot died in a small plane crash that ignited a fire Wednesday afternoon in a wooded area of West Milford that was once part of the former Jungle Habitat theme park, authorities confirmed. The single-engine Piper PA-32 aircraft crashed after leaving nearby Greenwood Lake Airport around 2:30 p.m., the FAA reported. The lone-occupant pilot wasn't immediately identified. Downed Wires Shut Down Roadway In Sloatsburg
Police have shut down a roadway in Sloatsburg due to downed primary live wires. Ramapo Police closed Sterling Mine Road around 8:30 a.m. Monday after the fire department reported the downed lines. Motorists are asked to avoid the area for at least the next several hours as crews work to repair the lines, police said. Moderate to heavy rain will continue until early Monday afternoon on a breezy day with a thunderstorm possible. More Than 5K Rockland Customers Without Power
Orange & Rockland Utilities announced Friday that it hopes to have most of the power restored to Rockland County customers by end of Sunday night and Orange County residents by midnight Friday. Company officials said that as of noon Friday 5,897 customers were without power in Rockland County and 822 customers in Orange County.
