The number of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and fatalities are all on the rise in Orange County as the Hudson Valley contends with a new wave of the virus.
The number of active cases is up to 2,427, up nearly 1,000 from one month ago, according to the county Department of Health. Newly confirmed fatalities brought the death toll up to 774 as of Tuesday, March 30.
A total of 122 COVID-19 patients are being treated in Orange County hospitals.
Since the pandemic began, a total of 42,769 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed out of 642,254 tests administered in Orange County.

Hudson Valley Man Busted With Crack, Fentanyl, Police Say
An area has been arrested on numerous alleged drug offenses following a search.
Orange County resident Kareem Valles, age 45, of Port Jervis, was arrested on Tuesday, March 23 for multiple narcotics-related offenses.
While conducting an investigation, Port Jervis Police Department officers determined that Valles was in possession of a significant quantity of crack cocaine and fentanyl, Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden.
During the search, Worden said officers seized 32 grams of crack cocaine, 6 grams of fentanyl, a number of alprazolam tablets, and $1,500 in cash.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Orange County has topped 2,000 for the first time during the fall.
According to the county Department of Health, there are currently 20,26 1,732 active COVID-19 cases in Orange County on Monday, Dec. 21, up from 1,732 a week ago.
The state Health Department was reporting 196 new cases reported in the past 24 hours.
There have now been 20,798 COVID-19 confirmed positives reported in Orange County out of more than 350,000 tests administered, according to the Department of Health.
