Well-Known Farmer, Book Dealer ID'd As Victim Of Fatal Route 9 Crash
The person killed during a crash with a tractor-trailer on Route 9 has been identified by police as a well-known area farmer and book dealer from Garrison.
Joseph Mercurio, 72, was killed around 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, after the vehicle he was driving crashed with a tractor-trailer on Route 9, talking down multiple power lines and closing the roadway for hours, said the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Target Employee Arrested For Stealing $4K, Police Say
An employee was arrested for allegedly ripping off more than $4,000 from a Target store in the area.
Stephen F. Garcia, 18, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested around 4 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 3, following an investigation, said Capt. Michael O’Dowd, Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department.
According to O'Dowd, police were called to the store at 2001 South Road (Route 9) were store officials told police that Garcia had allegedly stole more than $4,000 over a three-week period.
Garcia was charged with felony grand larceny and released on his own recognizance, O'Dowd said.
Five Charged With DWI During Westchester Sobriety Checkpoint
Five people are facing driving while intoxicated charges following a fixed sobriety checkpoint in Northern Westchester.
The detail, on Route 9 in the town of Cortlandt, was conducted on Saturday, Aug. 31 by state police troopers from the Somers, Cortlandt and Hawthorne barracks.

Man With Loaded Gun Urinates On Gas Station In Area, Police Say
A man caught urinating on the side of a gas station found himself in the Dutchess County Jail.
Cody Warner, of Lauderdale, Mississippi, was arrested on Sunday, July 14, after Town of Fishkill Police Officer John Hurtado saw him urinating on the side of Flory's Gas Station, located on Route 9 in the Village of Fishkill, Chief James Schepperly said.
Warner was also carrying a loaded 45-caliber Ruger handgun, police said.
He was charged with felony criminal possession of a loaded weapon. Bail was set at $25,000 cash/$50,000 bail and is being held at the Dutchess County Jail.

Two women were busted by the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office for offering massages without a license, one was also accused of offering sex for extra cash.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office arrested Li Xu-Campbell, 54, of New Windsor, and Wang Chai Xia, 34, of Flushing, around 7 p.m. Thursday in connection with an investigation into illegal activity at Your Green Spa located at 1315 Route 9 in the Town of Wappinger, said Capt. John Watterson.
