There have now been 1,466 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Dutchess County, resulting in 11 deaths since the outbreak began. State Trooper Narrowly Escapes Injury After Patrol Car Gets Hit On Taconic Parkway A New York State trooper narrowly escaped injury after his patrol car was rear-ended while he was assisting another driver. The crash took place around 7:29 a.m., Monday, Dec. 2, on the Taconic State Parkway in LaGrange, said New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks. The trooper was outside of his vehicle assisting a driver who had been involved in another crash and was not injured. The driver was ticketed for failing to obey the Move Over law and for excessive speed, he added. No serious injuries were reported in either crash.

During the incident, which took place last week, Trooper David Sabillon of Troop K, responded to a Dutchess County supermarket in the town of LaGrange for a report of an unresponsive child.  At the scene, Sabillon began life-saving measures and the 1-year-old regained consciousness and started breathing normally, state police said.
