Large Brush Fire Breaks Out At Harriman State Park
For two days, numerous Hudson Valley fire departments battled a stubborn brush fire atop Nordkop Mountain.
The fire occurred in Rockland County on Saturday, Oct. 26, and Sunday, Oct. 27, in Harriman State Park in Hillburn.
The Hillburn Fire Department, with the assistance of several fire departments and New York State Park rangers, battled the blaze that consumed acres.
According to the Hillburn Fire Department, firefighters cut fire lines and worked to put out the blaze, which they described as "difficult and stubborn."

Man Driving At 3 Times Legal Limit Crashes Into Building In Hudson Valley, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man was arrested after he was stopped for alleged drunk driving at three times the legal limit after he crashed into a building.
The incident took place in Rockland County around 4:20 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 14 in Ramapo at 63 E. Eckerson Road.
A Ramapo police officer was on patrol when he came upon the truck that had struck a building and left the scene, the department said on Facebook.
The driver, a 36-year-old Spring Valley man, was arrested for DWI, and a 2022 Ram pickup was recovered and impounded, the department said.

Driver Loses Control Of Vehicle, Hits Rock Wall, Utility Pole In Area
A 31-year-old man was injured after allegedly losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a rock wall and a utility pole.
The incident took place in Rockland on Tuesday, Jan. 7, during the early evening on Camp Hill Road in Ramapo, said police.
The driver, a Village of New Hempstead resident, lost control of his vehicle, struck a rock wall and utility pole causing the vehicle to overturn, according to police.
The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was issued a ticket for failure to reduce speed, before being transported by Spring Valley Ambulance to the hospital for treatment.

Community Rallies Around Family That Lost House To Suffern Fire
The community is rallying to support a family that lost its home to a massive structure fire on Wednesday in Suffern, just weeks before the holidays.
Shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5 firefighters from multiple area departments were called to Washington Avenue in Suffern for a fully-involved structure fire.
Crews from Mahwah, Hillburn, Sloatsburg, Tallman, Monsey, Hillcrest and Nanuet worked at the scene, containing the flames and damage to only the one house, which was destroyed. No injuries were reported, but family pets perished in the fire.
