The fire occurred in Rockland County on Saturday, Oct. 26, and Sunday, Oct. 27, in Harriman State Park in Hillburn. The Hillburn Fire Department, with the assistance of several fire departments and New York State Park rangers, battled the blaze that consumed acres. Motorist Extricated After Route 17 Crash An injured motorist had to be extricated from his vehicle by first responders in Rockland County after crashing. First responders responded to a stretch of Route 17 underneath the New York Thruway overpass in Hillburn late in the afternoon on Sunday, Oct. 6, where there was a report of a crash, and a driver struck inside with injuries. Firefighter Injured Battling Rockland House Fire A Monsey home was destroyed by fire as firefighters worked in hot, humid conditions to battle the blaze. The fire started around 3 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, at the home on Mapleleaf Road, said the Ramapo Police Department. Multiple fire departments were called to the scene due to the difficult conditions including working in void spaces due to the construction of an addition to the home, officials said. One Critical Following Head-On Route 59 Garbage Truck Crash In Hillburn Police are investigating a serious head-on crash on Route 59 in Hillburn that took place early in the morning The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11 when a northbound garbage truck swerved into the southbound lane of Route 59 striking a small sedan head-on, Ramapo Police said. Community Rallies Around Family That Lost House To Suffern Fire The community is rallying to support a family that lost its home to a massive structure fire on Wednesday in Suffern, just weeks before the holidays. Shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5 firefighters from multiple area departments were called to Washington Avenue in Suffern for a fully-involved structure fire.
