The Hudson Valley continues to be among the hardest-hit regions in New York as the number of new COVID-19 infections is on the rise, with one new virus-related death reported. The seven-day average positive infection rate in the region has risen from 0.76 percent on Sunday, July 11 all the way to 0.90 percent on Wednesday, July 14, the fourth-highest in New York as the state contends with new variants of the virus. A third Rockland resident has died from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as the number of cases in the county continues to soar. The 85-year-old who died also had other significant health issues, officials said on Friday afternoon, March 20. The first Rockland resident to die from the virus happened on Thursday, March 12 when a 64-year-old Suffern resident became the second New York to die from the virus. New Tappan Zee Bridge Now Open In Full As Traffic Flows On Westchester-Bound Span
The new Tappan Zee Bridge has now opened in full. All four lanes of the new bridge's second span opened around 10 p.m. Tuesday. (See video above and also linked here.)
