Police Search For I-84 Hit-Run Driver Connecticut State police are asking the public for help locating the driver of a light-colored SUV involved in a hit-and-run crash on I-84 in Fairfield County.  The incident took place around 1:40 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 30, near Exit 5 in Danbury when the SUV merged into the right lane and hit the front driver’s side of a 2010 Honda Civic, state police said. The crash caused the Honda to swerve right and strike a metal beam guide rail before veering left and colliding into a center median concrete barrier, state police said. The mild, shaking jolt in Connecticut that startled some in Fairfield County, was in fact a mild earthquake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The USGS, the organization responsible for earthquake tracking around the country, said the 1.4-magnitude quake took place at 12:38 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 27 in Greenwich, two kilometers north-northwest of the neighborhood of Cos Cob. The Darien man was detained on the morning of Monday, Jan. 10, after a TSA officer saw the .38 caliber handgun on the checkpoint X-ray machine's monitor, the TSA announced. High School Student In Hudson Valley Dies After Brave Battle With Cancer A Hudson Valley high school student who lived in Connecticut has died at the age of 16 after he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Matthew Dooley died at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 5, following his battle with a glioblastoma brain tumor, according to his obituary. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Jane Dooley, his sisters, his grandmother and his uncles.
