Orange County resident Chauncey Smith, age 23, of Pine Bush, was sentenced on Tuesday, July 16, to three to nine years in prison in connection with the Monday, August 14, 2023 crash, said Orange County District Attorney David M. State Trooper Suffers Opioid Exposure After Overdose Crash On NY Highway, Police Say A New York State Police trooper was hospitalized for possible opioid exposure while responding to a suspected overdose crash on a state highway. State Police on Long Island were initially called at around 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, with reports of an erratic driver in Hempstead, heading southbound on the Wantagh State Parkway near Hempstead Turnpike. Woman, 21, Caught In Stolen Minivan In Area Under Influence, State Police Say A 21-year-old woman who stole a minivan was reportedly stoned when police caught up to her, according to state troopers.  Troopers observed the vehicle, which had been reported stolen from Liberty, on Mahogany Lane on Friday, Sept. 18.  According to police,  Sullivan County resident Marissa J. Ghelberg, of Liberty, was under the influence of marijuana when she was pulled over.  Ghelberg was charged with the felony of fourth-degree larceny and the misdemeanor of driving while ability impaired by drugs.
