Student's Social Media Post With Racial Slur Being Investigated By Marist College
With the nation in a state of unrest after George Floyd’s police-related death in Minnesota, officials at Marist College are investigating a social media message posted by a student that contained a racial epithet. An Instagram photo depicting the student in question and another person in a car had the n-word on the post, prompting Marist College President Dennis Murray to launch an investigation and reach out to the community. Marist College President David Yellen Resigns
A familiar face will be back at the helm at Marist College, with President David Yellen announcing that he will be resigning from the Dutchess County private school and replaced by a longtime former president. Yellen, the college’s fourth president, announced his resignation on Wednesday, June 19, and the college’s Board of Trustees named President Emeritus and Professor of Public Policy Dennis Murray as interim president. Anchor Speaking At Mid-Hudson Civic Center MLK Breakfast
Maurice DuBois, a news anchor for WCBS-TV, will be the keynote speaker at the 27th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center on Friday, Jan. 19. The breakfast, hosted by the nonprofit Catharine Street Community Center, will begin at 7:15 a.m. DuBois previously won the New York Association of Black Journalists’ Trailblazer Award.
