Seven Shot In Separate Incidents At Outdoor Gatherings On Long Island
Seven people were shot in two separate incidents overnight on Long Island. The first incident happened around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23 in Bay Shore. Several people were gathered in the vicinity of the basketball courts at the Bay Shore Marina, located on South Clinton Avenue when several gunshots were fired in their direction from outside of the park, Suffolk County Police said. Man Faces 20 Years In Prison For Fatal Rockland Shooting, DA Says
A 34-year-old man will be sentenced to 20 years in prison later this year after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of a Rockland County man. Jason Jabouin, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, pleaded guilty on Thursday, May 20 to manslaughter in the killing of Ryan Franklin in May 2020 in Nyack, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh. According to Walsh, Jabouin shot Ryan Franklin two times in the torso (one time in the back and one time in the arm), causing his death. A police officer is being treated at an area hospital after being seriously injured in an unprovoked attack in Westchester County. A Dobbs Ferry officer assigned to assist a Con Edison crew was assaulted around 2 p.m., Thursday, May 20, in the area of Keller Lane and Beacon Hill, according to ABC 7. A 53-year-old area man is behind bars following a yearlong investigation into a series of rape that persisted over nearly a decade, state police said. Investigators in the Hudson Valley announced the arrest of Ulster County resident Daniel Wolven, of Kingston, on Tuesday, April 27, following a lengthy investigation into alleged rapes involving a minor. At Least 28 Gunshots Fired In North Orange County Over Weekend, Police Say
One Orange County city says it has seen a "drastic increase" in shots fired calls for service. The City of Newburgh is reporting that over the weekend, from Saturday, Jan. 9 to early Monday, Jan. 11, the department responded to seven calls for shots fired, said Lieutenant Brandon Rola. During the incident, Rola said a total of 28 shots were fired, with all of the incident being recorded by the city's Shot Spotter unit and that most were confirmed with shell casing retrieved on the scene. A Hudson Valley man was arrested after he knocked another shopper at a Dollar General location to the ground when she confronted him for not wearing a face mask, police said, and was charged with a second count of harassment after another incident later that week. Alert Issued For Woman Wanted In Area
Sheriff's deputies are searching for a woman wanted in the Hudson Valley for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Katlyn M. Falgiano, 29, last lived in Dutchess County on Beekman Road in Hopewell Junction, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department. Police said she stands at 5-foot-4, weighs 130 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. Man Wanted For Stealing $180K Nabbed At Taconic Parkway Work Zone
A man wanted for stealing $180,000 has been arrested during a traffic stop at a work zone in the area. Joshua C. Allen, 19, of Brooklyn, was arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 17 on the Taconic State Parkway in Putnam County as a fugitive from justice out of Bossier, Louisiana, said State Police Trooper AJ Hicks. The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office is alerting area residents about recent thefts of high-end vehicles. The thefts have occurred mainly in the southeastern part of Dutchess County during the late-night/early-morning hours, said Capt. John Watterson. New York State Police troopers issued dozens of tickets to a Hudson Valley driver who took them on a short midday chase before being apprehended following a rollover crash.
