Three-Alarm Fire Breaks Out At Apartment Complex In Area
A mother and a newborn were able to escape a roaring three-alarm apartment fire in the area due to a warning from a smoke detector. The blaze broke out in Ulster County around 12:50 p.m., Monday, Jan. 31, at 109 Rondout Drive in Kingston. When Kingston firefighters arrived on the scene located at the Roundout Gardens Apartments, they found heavy fire coming from a second-floor apartment, extending to the attic, said the Kingston Fire Department. NY Utility Companies Agree To Pay $86M In Settlements For Failed Isaias Response
The failed response by utility companies in New York during Tropical Storm Isaias is going to prove costly. Terms of settlements totaling $86.2 million have been agreed upon with the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) for alleged violations committed as the storm swept across the state. Specifically, Con Edison, Orange & Rockland Utilities, Central Hudson Gas and Electric, and Frontier Communications of New York will pay for failing to adequately prepare for and respond to emergencies, including Tropical Storm Isaias in 2020. A garbage truck driver who was allegedly distracted by a noise in his truck drove into a utility pole in the area, causing a power outage. The incident took place in Ulster County around 7:46 a.m., Tuesday, April 28, when Saugerties Police responded to the parking lot of the Glasco Firehouse for reported property damage motor vehicle crash, Saugerties Police Chief Joseph A. Motorist Killed When Car Crashes Into Pole In Hudson Valley
A 25-year-old man was killed in an overnight single-vehicle crash in Dutchess County. According to New York State Police, Amilcar De Martinez Palma, of Poughkeepsie, died around 1 a.m. Tuesday near Stonykill Road in the town of Wappinger.
