A man faces numerous charges after allegedly stealing catalytic converters from vehicles throughout the Hudson Valley and Connecticut, including one that was parked at a high school, police said. The arrest stemmed from an incident that happened on Thursday, March 23 around 3 p.m., when a Putnam County sheriff's deputy assigned as a school resource officer at Putnam Valley High School was told that a vehicle parked in the school's lot had a catalytic converter stolen from it. A Hudson Valley man who was wanted for allegedly stealing catalytic converters last month has been arrested while appearing in court for traffic violations. The thefts took place in Dutchess County in the city of Beacon on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the Metro North Train Station. Alleged Catalytic Converter Thief Apprehended In Area
An alleged catalytic converter Hudson Valley thief was nabbed by state police. Dutchess County resident George Foster, age 39, of Wappinger, was arrested on Sunday, Oct. 16, said Trooper AJ Hicks. On Oct. 16, troopers began investigating the theft of catalytic converters at the Sheep and Wool Festival hosted by the Dutchess County Fair Grounds, Hicks said. With the assistance of the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, an investigation determined Foster entered the fairgrounds parking areas and removed the catalytic converters from three Honda Elements, he added. A suspect has been charged after nearly two dozen hospital staffers who ended shifts battling the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic found the tires on their vehicles slashed. It happened in Northern Westchester at the New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt. At about 7 a.m. Friday, April 10, state police say they received a report of criminal mischief.
