On a 6-3 vote, the council passed the $15,722,779 budget, said City Clerk-Treasurer Robin Waizenegger.
“Each percentage point of tax increase will cost the average homeowner $1.14 per month,” said Waizenegger, based on an assessed home value of $50,000, with a market value of $119,048.
Only 1.13 percent of the 8.13 percent increase was negotiable with the remaining amount contractual in nature for salaries and health insurance, she added.
Other items of note included a $20,000 raise denied for Mayor Kelly Decker; a two percent standard increase to non-union, adjustments as necessary to meet minimum wage law, and a few increases based on certification, increased duties and/or salary parity issues.
