Santini responded to a call to check on the wellbeing of a woman standing on the Mid-Delaware Bridge on Pike Street just after 10 a.m.
As Santini approached, the woman dropped a family photograph and a cellphone onto the sidewalk. The woman then mounted the railing and attempted to swing both of her legs over the railing. Santini was able to grab the female and pull her away from the edge, Port Jervis police said.
Santini was able to keep the woman on the sidewalk and calm her down. Officers then took the woman to Bon Secours Community Hospital for mental health evaluation.
