NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Newburgh resident Matthew Roopchandsingh said he was about 6-years-old when he realized he wasn't quite like the other kids. He couldn't run as fast or snap his fingers the same way they could. He would fall out of nowhere. This Middletown Pet Rescuer Has Saved 13,000 Dogs Since 2015
MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. — Every week, Steve Quilliam of Middletown's Grateful Doggies drives a minibus 900 miles to Georgia to pick up dogs who are being housed in kill shelters. Quilliam loads 40 or 50 mutts into his bus and places them in veterinaries and foster homes en route to New York. CORNWALL, N.Y. -- Star Walters didn't start running until she was 31. Now, the 65-year-old is a USA Triathlon Coach who has competed in more than 100 races, continually placing first in her age group.
