A Virginia pilot who regularly flew dogs in need to safe homes around the country was killed when his small plane crashed in a remote area of New York. The Greene County incident happened in the Town of Windham at around 6:10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. Sheriff’s officials said a single-engine Mooney plane was traveling from Maryland to Albany carrying the pilot and three dogs when it crashed in a remote area. 3 Dead Following Head-On Capital Region Crash Three people were killed in a head-on highway crash in the region. The Greene County wreck happened just before 5 p.m. Saturday, July 20, on Route 23 in the town of Windham. Sheriff’s officials said a Buick SUV was heading eastbound on State Route 23 when it collided with a westbound Chevrolet pickup truck near the intersection of Cross Road. Two passengers in the Buick were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third Buick passenger died at Albany Medical Center.
