Teenage Bicyclist Seriously Injured In Suffolk County Crash: Police A teenage bicyclist was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash in Brightwaters, Suffolk County police announced on Saturday, Dec. 7. The 14-year-old was riding westbound on Howells Road near Manatuck Boulevard when he attempted to cross the street and was struck by a westbound 2011 Honda CRV at 10:25 a.m., according to police. The vehicle, driven by 36-year-old Nube Cajamarca of Bay Shore, remained on the scene. Cajamarca was not injured, police said. 17-Year-Old Killed After SUV Crashes Into Tree On Long Island A teenager was killed after a compact SUV crashed into a tree overnight on Long Island. The incident happened around 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 in Merrick. The teen, a 17-year-old boy, was operating a 2021 Honda CRV traveling southbound on Merrick Avenue when the incident happened.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity has not yet been released. 13-Year-Old Caught With Brass Knuckles At Ronkonkoma School, Police Say A 13-year-old boy is facing charges after he was allegedly caught with brass knuckles at a Long Island school. The incident happened in Lake Ronkonkoma, at Samoset Middle School, at around 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. Suffolk County Police said a staff member asked the teen to empty his bag for an unrelated incident when the brass knuckles were discovered. The student was arrested on suspicion of criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor. He is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk County Court on a later date.

A 56-year-old Nesconset woman was driving a 2024 Volkswagen SUV on Smith Road, near Cenacle Road, when the vehicle struck the 14-year-old boy who was rollerblading in the roadway, according to the Suffolk County Police.
