23-Year-Old Punches, Robs Taxi Driver Outside Long Island Hospital, Police Say
A 23-year-old man is accused of attacking and robbing a taxi driver outside a Long Island hospital. The incident happened in East Meadow, steps from Nassau University Medical Center on Hempstead Turnpike, at around 3:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19. Nassau County Police said the 72-year-old male victim was working as a driver for Hub Taxi when he was called to pick up a customer outside the hospital. Health-conscious Long Islanders will soon have a new lunch spot to add to their rotation. Just Salad – the chain of fast-casual restaurants focused on salads, wraps, and smoothies – is set to open a new location in East Meadow. Ahead of the cricket games hosted on Long Island, authorities announced which roadways will be affected by the competition. The ICC World Cricket Cup, which will hold multiple games in East Meadow’s Eisenhower Park starting on Saturday, June 1, is expected to bring in thousands of fans from all over the world – and plenty of traffic.
