A trooper is recovering after he was rammed by a suspect’s vehicle on the Southern State Parkway. The incident happened in the westbound lanes near Meadowbrook State Parkway in North Merrick at around 10:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1. New York State Police said a trooper was attempting to stop a vehicle that was speeding across multiple lanes when he pulled in front of the suspect’s vehicle as it stopped in traffic near the Eagle Avenue exit. A Long Island man has been accused of committing a lewd act while watching two girls through a window in his home. The alleged incident happened around on Friday, Aug. 30 in Islip Terrace. A family member of the girls reported to police that the man was naked and committing the act while watching the minors, from the window of his home, located on Sunrise Highway (Route 27). Thief Walks Off With $20K Watch From Huntington Station Jewelry Store
Police are asking for help in identifying a thief who walked out of a Long Island jewelry store with a watch worth thousands of dollars. The incident happened in Huntington Station, at the Tourneau store located at Walt Whitman Shops, at around 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 12. Suffolk County Police said a man stole a Cartier watch valued at approximately $20,000. Police are investigating after someone set a van on fire outside a Long Island home. The incident happened in North Valley Stream at a residence on Franklin Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17.
