2 Killed, 4 Severely Injured In Crash At West Babylon Intersection
Two people were killed and four others suffered serious injuries in a crash at a Long Island intersection.
It happened just after 1 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 in West Babylon.
A 2017 Kia sedan was traveling eastbound on Railroad Avenue and failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Great East Neck Road, Suffolk County Police said.
The sedan then struck a 2025 Kia Seltos SUV traveling southbound on Great East Neck Road.
The driver of the Kia sedan, Michael Desmond, age 33, of Lindenhurst, was pronounced dead at the scene.

More than a year after a husband and father was struck and killed by a repeat drunk driver outside a Long Island restaurant, his family is getting closure.
Willem Specht, age 63, of Wantagh, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide and related charges in Nassau County Court on Monday, Aug. 26, in the death of Joseph Devito.
Prosecutors said Specht was “highly intoxicated” when he quickly reversed his car from a parking spot, striking the 61-year-old Devito outside the On Parade Diner in Woodbury at around 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 18, 2023.

Long Island Man Charged After Throwing Explosive Device On Woman's Car
A Long Island man was charged with arson after allegedly throwing an explosive device on a woman's car, causing heaving damage.
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, in North Merrick.
According to the Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad, James Luca, age 46, of North Merrick, ignited an explosive device and threw it onto the hood of a female victim’s car, located in the driveway of her Sherman Avenue home.
He then fled the area while the device exploded, causing damage to the hood of the vehicle and the front windshield, police said.

Huntington Station Man Killed In Head-On Aquebogue Crash
One person was killed in a head-on crash on Long Island.
It happened around 11:45 a.m. Friday, July 19, in Suffolk County on Main Road, east of Union Avenue in Aquebogue.
A 2018 BMW, operated by New York City resident Anthony Croce, age 65, of Brooklyn, collided head-on with a 2002 Nissan, operated by Matthew Schramm, age 67, of Huntington Station, Riverhead Police said.
Schramm, who suffered extensive injuries, was rushed to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

The identities have been released of four people killed, including a police officer, and nine injured after an allegedly drunk driver crashed an SUV into a shop at a New York strip mall.

The incident occurred in Ronkonkoma on Monday, May 20, on Ronkonkoma Avenue near Third Street.
According to Suffolk County Police, Elyse Crivaro was in the roadway on Ronkonkoma Avenue, near Third Street, on May 20, when she was struck by a dark-colored Toyota Prius that was traveling southbound at approximately 3:20 a.m.
