A 29-year-old man formally confessed to causing an impaired, high-speed crash on the Southern State Parkway that claimed three lives. Matthew Whyte, of Laurelton, Queens, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide and related charges in Nassau County Court on Thursday, Feb. 20, in the deaths of Florence Oprisan, Ciara Hare, and Jean Marc Miller. An admitted drunk driver who caused a wrong-way crash killing two 14-year-old boys on Long Island will spend years in prison. Amandeep Singh, 36, of Roslyn, was sentenced to between eight and 25 years behind bars in Nassau County Court on Friday, Feb. 7. Two people were killed and two others suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash on the Southern State Parkway. The wreck happened in the eastbound lanes, near exit 30 in North Massapequa, shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12.
