Second Arrest Made In Broad-Daylight Hempstead Execution: Police

A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the broad-daylight execution of a 19-year-old man in Hempstead, Nassau County police announced in an update on Monday, March 10.

Brayan Pineda, 20, of Elmont, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree hindering prosecution for allegedly assisting in the cover-up of the March 1 homicide, police said. He is set to be arraigned on Tuesday, March 11, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.

Authorities previously arrested 18-year-old Jeremias Ferrufino-Rodriguez for second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in the killing of Jefferson J. Mancia-Fernandez, 19, who was gunned down at West Graham Avenue and Peninsula Boulevard.

Police have not released further details about Pineda’s alleged role in the crime.
