Eighty-six police officers graduated from the Westchester County Police Academy on Friday, and will now join 18 law enforcement agencies in the county and two in Putnam. The graduates were celebrated on Dec. 21 at a massive celebration at SUNY Purchase. The 86 graduates come from the 146th Session of Basic Recruit School, and received their diplomas in front of a packed house from Westchester County Police Commissioner Thomas Gleason. Funeral Procession Held For Westchester Police Academy Grad, 29 Services were held after a funeral procession for the 29-year-old Carmel police officer who was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a U.S. mail truck in Putnam County late last week. A Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday at St. James the Apostle R.C. Church on Gleneida Avenue in Carmel as members of many local, state and regional agencies formed the procession.
