Blood Drives To Be Held In NY In Effort To Save 4-Year-Old Boy With Leukemia
A number of blood drives are being held in the area this month in the hope of saving a Long Island 4-year-old with leukemia. Nassau County resident Ayden Paredes, of Glen Cove, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on Feb. 7 of 2021, according to Mark Paredes, Ayden's father. Ayden has been receiving chemotherapy treatments and blood transfusions since then, but doctors are now saying he needs a blood stem cell/bone marrow transplant to save his life, Mark said. 19: Restrictions Lifted In Orange Zones, Most Yellow Zones
With the post-holiday COVID-19 surge a thing of the past, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has lifted certain economic restrictions that had been placed on certain areas where the infection rate spiked before the holiday season. Cuomo announced on Wednesday, Jan. 27 that he was lifting all of the state’s COVID-19 “orange zones,” while only four “yellow zones” remain in effect as the state adjusts to the data surrounding the virus. Rabbi Linked To Westchester Lawyer Tests Positive For Coronavirus
A Westchester County rabbi who has been in self-quarantine due to his connection with a New Rochelle lawyer hospitalized with the novel coronavirus has tested positive for the disease. Dr. Ari Berman, president of Yeshiva University, confirmed on Friday, March 6 that Reuven Fink, rabbi of the Young Israel of New Rochelle who also teaches two college classes in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, tested positive.
