Woman From Region Charged With Setting Fire To Apartment, Police Say A woman from the region is being held without bail after allegedly setting fire to an apartment using an accelerant. The incident occurred in Sullivan County around 5:20 p.m., on Tuesday, July 16 at the Libery Common Apartment Complex in village of Liberty. According to Liberty Police Chief Steve D'Agata, when officers arrived they found billowing smoke coming out of the residence. The incident took place in Sullivan County around 8:35 a.m., Saturday, April 8, in Monticello. Monticello Police received a report of smoke coming from Apartment 4 at the Monticello Housing Authority Complex, located at 55 Liberty St., said Lt Mark Johnstone, of the Monticello Police. 37-Year-Old Firefighter In Region Dies In Line Of Duty A 37-year-old firefighter in the region died in the line of duty. The Sullivan County Bureau of Fire and the Forestburgh Fire District said that Assistant Chief William J. Steinberg died on Saturday, Jan. 15 while operating at a mutual aid structure fire. Missing Hudson Valley Man Found Dead A missing Hudson Valley man has been found dead following a two-day search by multiple law enforcement agencies. The body of Sullivan County resident Peter Mitro, 67, of Monticello, was located in a wooded area between Scott Lane and Terry Lane in the Village of Monticello on Wednesday, July 1, said Monticello Police Lt.
