Police in Ulster County said the vehicles were stolen from the parking lot of Monroe Muffler & Brake Service, located at 3160 Route 9W in Saugerties, on Friday, July 22. Authorities began investigating the overnight thefts of a 2015 Subaru Forester and a 2019 Nissan Frontier, according to the Saugerties Police Department. One Killed In Crash Involving School Bus In Hudson Valley One person was killed during a two-vehicle crash between a school bus and a dump truck in the Hudson Valley. It happened around 8:50 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 14 in Ulster County, on Route 9W in the town of Saugerties. The driver of the dump truck suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Ulster County Sheriff's Office. Man Nabbed For Driving While High On Drugs In Area, Police Say A 64-year-old man was arrested for allegedly driving while high on drugs after being stopped for driving erratically. Ulster County resident Todd Kuriplach, of Saugerties, was arrested around 10:50 a.m., Sunday, March 7, after Saugerties Police received a complaint of an erratic driver on Route 9W in Saugerties, said Chief Joseph A. Sinagra. When officers responded, they spotted a vehicle driven by Kuriplach weaving across both lanes of traffic, Sinagra said. Area Man Charged With DWI After Refusing Chemical Test A 42-year-old man was arrested on DWI charges following a traffic stop. Ulster County resident William Babcock, of Saugerties, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 27, after being stopped by officers at the Quickchek on Route 9W, Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra said. After being stopped, Babcock allegedly refused to submit to a chemical test, Sinagra said. He was charged with DWI and refusal to take a breath test. During his arraignment at the Town of Saugerties Justice Court, his driver's license was revoked. Babcock was released on his own recognizance.
