Health officials are warning residents of potential rabies exposure from a cat that has tested positive in a Hudson Valley municipality. The incident took place in Rockland County in Monsey. Two staff members in an area school district have confirmed positive cases of COVID-19, school officials announced. The Nyack School District confirmed that a pair of staff members tested positive for the virus and are being temporarily isolated away from students and staff as per the guidance from the state’s Department of Health. A new cluster of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the Hudson Valley is being attributed to a house party of young people. State Of Emergency Declared Due To Measles Outbreak In Rockland

As Rockland County continues to experience the "worst measles outbreak in the country" since the disease was eradicated in 2000, County Executive Ed Day has declared a state of emergency for all unvaccinated residents. Under the emergency, anyone who is under 18 years of age and unvaccinated against the measles will be barred from public places until the declaration expires in 30 days or until they have received the MMR vaccination, said Day.
