Isaias New Power Outage Update: These Putnam County Communities Are Most Affected
Thousands remain without power in Putnam County two days after Tropical Storm Isaias ripped through the region.
Utility crews have been working around the clock to make repairs after the storm sent trees flying into power lines and utility poles, causing mass outages throughout the Hudson Valley.
According to NYSEG, as of Thursday, Aug. 6, 24,961 of its 38,693 customers in Putnam were still without power. Central Hudson was also reporting 2,047 of its 5,160 customers were still in the dark.

Thousands of Putnam County residents had power restored overnight, but nearly 40,000 remain in the dark a day after Tropical Storm Isaias ripped through the region, toppling trees and power lines.
NYSEG was reporting that 34,150 of its 38,693 customers were still without power, while 3,621 of Central Hudson’s 5,160 Putnam County customers were waiting to have power restored as of around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
According to Central Hudson, full-service restoration is expected to be completed over several days, and potentially into the weekend.

Tropical Storm Isaias: Thousands Lose Power In Putnam
Tens of thousands of Putnam, Dutchess, and Ulster residents have lost power as Tropical Storm Isaias rocked the region with extreme wind gusts that toppled trees, felled utility poles and downed power lines throughout the area.
Putnam County was hardest hit, with 33,464 of NYSEG’s 38,693 customers reporting outages, with Carmel (11,654), Southeast (5,966), Putnam Valley (4,894), and Patterson (4,460) seeing the most outages.
Central Hudson was responding to 606 total outages that were impacting 63,821 of their customers as of 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4.

There were no new COVID-19 deaths reported in Putnam County in the past week.
There were 31 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in the latest update from the county’s Department of Health, bringing the total to 1,596 cases since the outbreak began in the Hudson Valley in mid-March.
A total of 23,186 Putnam residents have been tested for COVID-19, a week-to-week increase of 3,228.

The identity of a man who drowned in a Hudson Valley lake while out boating with friends has been released by police.
Brooklyn resident Sydney Joseph, 46, was recovered on Monday, June 29, in Oscawana Lake, located in the town of Putnam Valley, said Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr.
The search for Joseph began around 3:35 p.m., Saturday, June 27, when sheriff's deputies responded to the lake for a report of a potential drowning, the sheriff's department said.

There have been more than two dozen new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Putnam County, with one new death, though there are currently no patients hospitalized with the virus.
In the latest data provided by the Putnam County Department of Health, there have been 27 new COVI-19 cases, bringing the total to 1,499 positive cases since the outbreak began.
There have been 63 virus-related deaths, though only 12 cases are still active in the county.

Putnam County Covid-19 Death Toll Reaches 60: New Rundown Of Cases By Town
The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has now claimed the lives of 60 Putnam County residents, as the total number of cases topped 1,450 cases since mid-March.
On Day 94 of the pandemic, there were 22 new COVID-19 cases in Putnam, bringing the total to 1,451 positive cases since the outbreak began. Of those cases, 60 have resulted in the deaths of Putnam residents.
A total of 9,506 COVID-19 tests have been issued according to the Putnam County Department of Health, with 18 cases currently active. Nine COVID-19 patients remain at Putnam Hospital.
