Cyberattack Limits Hudson Valley City Services: Here's What A cyberattack on a Hudson Valley city's network security is preventing residents from numerous functions, including paying their water bills or property taxes, and many others. New York's No. 1 - For Highest Taxes In Nation, According To New Data A brand-new study has revealed that New York and Connecticut are paying the highest taxes in the country. 24/7 Wall Street released the report reviewing the “total tax burden as a share of income on a per capita basis” to identify the states with the lowest and highest tax burden. Federal taxes were not included in the calculations. The study found that New York led the way as the highest taxed state in the country, with 12.7 percent of income going toward taxes. Voters Approve Brewster School Budget Voters in the Brewster Central School District approved a $98 million budget for next year. A total of 1,123 Brewster residents voted for the budget proposal and 454 against it on Tuesday, June 19. Brewster was among three Hudson Valley school districts where taxpayers were asked to vote a second tie after the initial proposal was defeated. Brewster's next operating budget will increase the property tax levy by 2.22 percent.
