Man Sentenced For Stealing Appliances With Fake Credit Card In Northern Westchester
A Westchester man will avoid time behind bars after being busted using a fake credit card to illegally purchase appliances last year. Yonkers resident Rahul Masih has been sentenced after pleading guilty in October last year to attempted criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony. Last week, Masih was sentenced in Westchester County Court to five years probation after paying $2,580 in restitution to Atlantic Appliance in Yorktown, where he used the credit card. ID Released For Woman Who Died In Westchester Basement Apartment Fire
Police have released the name of the woman who died when a basement apartment broke out on Tuesday morning. First responders were dispatched to a Park Avenue residence at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, when a neighbor saw smoke coming from a basement apartment and called the fire department. Deputy Fire Chief Daniel Flynn said that one resident in the building was able to open the door to the basement apartment in an effort to assist an elderly resident, though he was pushed back by heavy smoke and unable to reach her.
