Tappan Zee Bridge Toll Set To Increase: Here's When, How Much Drivers crossing the new Tappan Zee Bridge will soon face a higher toll, according to the New York State Thruway Authority. The increase will go into effect on Wednesday, Jan. 1, with a 50-cent hike to the base NY E-ZPass toll rates and tolls-by-mail that began in 2024 and will continue each year through 2027, when it hits $7.75. The annual price increase means E-Z pass users will begin paying $6.75 on New Year's Day. The Croton-on-Hudson Water Department will be replacing a valve along Maple Street on Oct. 4, prompting a water shut off in the area of Maple Street and Old Post Road South. The Monroe Police Department issued an alert cautioning that Route 25 will be closed from Brook Street to Knollwood Street, as they install a new box culvert at the Aquarion Reservoir. Police noted that the work zone will extend through the shopping plaza south of Knollwood Street with alternating traffic on Route 25. Tragic Mianus Bridge Collapse Along I-95 Marks 35th Anniversary On this day in 1983, a part of the Mianus River Bridge collapsed.  Three people were killed and three others were seriously injured.  At about 1:30 a.m., on June 28, 1983, a 100-foot span of Interstate 95 in Greenwich collapsed into the Mianus River in one of the most infamous American bridge disasters of the 20th century.  A car and two tractor-trailers careened over the edge of I-95. The death toll could have been significantly higher if the collapse occurred during rush hour, officials said.
