A person was injured in a shots-fired incident in which one of the bullets landed about a half-mile away in Westchester, according to police. The incident happened just before 9:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 in New Rochelle. The New Rochelle Police Department said it received multiple calls of shots fired in the area of 371 Main St. Upon arrival, New Rochelle PD officers located one shooting victim who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. A stolen rental car went from Florida all the way to Westchester County before two local men were busted by police, authorities said. Police in New Rochelle received a call from Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Miami at around 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, informing them that one of the company’s stolen vehicles was believed to be in the area. The New Rochelle Police Department released a photo of Jameson Arenas - also known as Kaitlyn G Arenas - who was reported missing by friends and family members on Friday, May 20. Four suspects wanted by the FBI are in custody after taking police in Westchester on a brief chase and crashing under a Metro-North overpass, authorities announced. Westchester Alternative High School To Transfer To College Campus
An alternative high school in Westchester will have a new home that will accommodate more students in a larger space thanks to a deal with an area college. The New Rochelle Board of Education announced at its meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 19 that it has approved the relocation of the Huguenot Academy to space leased at Monroe College’s campus in the city. An early morning traffic stop of an erratic in Westchester led to DWI and weapons charges for a man in possession of an illegal gun and ammo, police said. A car plowed through the lobby of Trump Plaza in New Rochelle overnight, injuring three people, police said. The black 2018 Mercedes-Benz slammed through the glass doors of the 40-story building on Huguenot Street at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
