A 28-year-old man has admitted to his role in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a lifelong 91-year-old Westchester resident. Hastings-on-Hudson resident Johnny David Machado pleaded guilty this week to felony counts of leaving the scene of an accident without reporting and criminally negligent homicide for the fatal crash that took the life of Rocco DePaolo in Dobbs Ferry last year. Police are calling on the public to find a truck driver who fatally struck a dog within its owner's line of vision then fled the scene. According to police in Orange County, the incident took place at approximately 10:10 a.m. on Maple Avenue in Ellenville in the area of Yankee Place on Friday, Oct. 9. Police are looking for a man who struck a woman who was getting out of her car, leaving contusions over her body that necessitated hospitalization. According to police, the 38-year-old woman was parked in Kingston in the area of 442 Hasbrouck Ave. when she opened her driver's side door and stepped out at approximately 10:24 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29. Reward Offered For Information On Fatal Northern Westchester Crash
A $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest is being offered after a fatal crash involving a bicyclist in Northern Westchester. At about 10:50 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23, Yorktown Police responded to Birdsall Drive at the Westchester County Trailway bicycle path for a report of a bicyclist struck by a vehicle. The driver of a tractor-trailer that struck and damaged a New York State Police cruiser on Interstate 84 before fleeing the scene has been apprehended, authorities said. At approximately 11:45 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, a state trooper on patrol from the East Fishkill barracks was monitoring traffic on a stretch of the roadway in Putnam County in the Town of Kent when the tractor-trailer struck the cruiser and fled the scene. A 32-year-old man wanted for a hit-and-run crash was arrested during a routine traffic stop. Marcellus Ferrell, 32, of Patterson, was apprehended on Saturday, Feb. 8, when stopped by Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Osika for a traffic violation, said the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. During the stop, Osika ran a check of the driver’s license and found that Ferrell was wanted for the hit-and-run involving serious injury or death in Connecticut, the department said. A man accused in a fatal hit-and-run crash is among three suspects incarcerated on pending criminal charges in Putnam released under new criminal justice reforms that took effect on Wednesday, Jan. 1, County Sheriff Robert L.
