CNN Producer Charged With Enticing Minors Into Sexual Activity, Feds Say
A Connecticut man who was a producer at CNN headquarters in New York City has been charged with sexually abusing underage girls. The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont announced on Friday, Dec. 10 that Fairfield County resident John Griffin, 44, of Stamford, was arrested by the FBI after a federal grand jury in Vermont charged Griffin with three counts of using a facility of interstate commerce to attempt to entice minors to engage in unlawful sexual activity. Online Employment Scam Alert Issued By State Police
Police are warning the public about a new scam involving online employment. New York State Police say the online employment scam begins with an online interview using Google Hangouts or another social media platform. Once the applicant is offered the job, they are told that they will be sent a check to purchase equipment for their new position, police say. The applicant then uses the funds to obtain money orders to pay for the supplies and deposits them into an account for a specific vendor that is named by the employer, according to police. CT College Student Admits To Enticing Boys For Online Sex
A 24-year-old man attending college in Connecticut has admitted to enticing four boys to engage in sexual activities over the Internet. Travis McCoy has waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty in Hartford District Court this week to one count of enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity. From August 2015 through March last year, while attending college and living in New London, McCoy admitted to using Internet-based video chatting services such as Kik and Google Hangouts, as well as Internet-based gaming systems that included Xbox Live, to entice the minors.
