New Supermarket To Open In Hudson Valley
A new 24-hour-a-day supermarket is opening in the Hudson Valley, focusing on everything fresh.
The Garden Fresh Market, located in Rockland County in Spring Valley, will have its soft opening on Wednesday, Oct. 23, and its grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 26, said owner Wilson Bermeo of New City.
This will be the fourth supermarket for Bermeo, who immigrated from Ecuador in 1995 to live the American Dream.
"You work all the time, every day, and you can have that dream," Bermeo said with a laugh.

Police Locate Car In Crash That Killed Fairfield County Man
Police have located a car that hit and killed a Connecticut man and then fled the scene.
The crash took place in Litchfield County around 5:11 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8, in New Milford.
Fairfield County resident Galo Rafael Guaman-Sarmiento, age 61, of Danbury, was crossing Danbury Road when he was struck by a 2013-2016 black Ford Fusion, said the New Milford Police.
The driver, who has not been found, fled the scene, and Guaman-Sarmiento was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police have been searching for the Fusion since the crash and located it on Saturday, Nov. 12, police said.

Beloved Coach, Community Icon Dies At Age 63
A longtime Hudson Valley mentor and beloved basketball coach has died following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Chris McLaurin, age 63, of Poughkeepsie, died on Monday, March 15, according to his family.
"A legend in his own right and our superhero. He made a huge impact on the people who he’s come in contact with. He will forever live on in our hearts," the family wrote in a statement on Facebook.
A Brooklyn native, McLaurin has lived in the mid-Hudson Valley for more than 40 years.

ICE Arrests 83 In NY Area, Including Hudson Valley, In Nationwide Enforcement Operation
A total of 83 arrests were made in the New York metro area as part of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) nationwide enforcement operation in which more than 2,000 were charged.
Deportation officers made arrests throughout New York City, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, and Jersey City, New Jersey.
