A woman who admitted to stabbing her boyfriend to death will be released from prison under a new NY state law that gives judges more discretion in sentencing defendants who have suffered domestic abuse. Westchester County resident Jonitha Alston, age 35, of New Rochelle, will be freed after acting State Supreme Court Justice Robert Neary vacated her original 12-year sentence and resentenced her to five years in prison. A Hudson Valley woman convicted of murdering her boyfriend and father of her children will not spend the rest of her life behind bars after seeing her sentence reduced following an appeal. A 31-year-old woman will spend decades in prison after being sentenced for murdering her boyfriend and father of their two children. Town of Poughkeepsie resident Nicole Addimando was sentenced to a term of 19 years to life in prison after being found guilty of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of her former boyfriend, Christopher Grover. The area woman who was found guilty of murdering her boyfriend in September 2017 is hoping to be sentenced under a new law.
