Man Who Stole $40,000 In iPhones Sentenced, DA Says A 42-year-old man has been sentenced to three to seven years in prison for stealing more than $40,000 worth of iPhones from a Sprint store. Donald Potter, of Medford in Suffolk County, was sentenced on Wednesday, Dec. 4, following a jury trial in October in which he was found guilty, said Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler The theft took place at the Sprint Store located at 469 Route 211 East in the Town of Wallkill in October 2018. Lane Closure, Traffic Stoppages Scheduled On I-84 Stretch Motorists driving on I-84 in Orange County will see overnight lane closures and brief traffic stoppages for several days as crews perform construction work in the area. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that lane closures have been scheduled on I-84 in the Towns of Wallkill, Greenville, Montgomery and Wawayanda; and the City of Port Jervis beginning on Monday, July 15. On I-84 eastbound, the closures will begin each day at 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. between Exit 1 (US Route 1/NJ Route 23) and Exit 4 (NY Route 17). Suspect Nabbed In Newburgh TD Bank Robbery City of Newburgh police have nabbed a man wanted for the robbery of a TD Bank last week. Alexander Castineiras, 29, of Washingtonville, was arrested Tuesday following an investigation into the robbery at the bank at 800 Broadway around 10 a.m. Thursday, said Det. Lt. Joseph Burns. Castineiras, who was wearing a black hoodie that partly concealed his face, did not display a weapon, police said. He fled westbound on Broadway on foot before jumping into a white vehicle near Route 17 K and the Town of Newburgh line, Burns said.
